A reminder that with forests under stress, we don't need to be flushing old growth forests down the toilet. Charmin's TP is entirely made from clearcutting the boreal forest in Canada. We can vote for a better future.

Climate change is a choice.

As the U.S. systems are destroying the planet, those who see climate change can lean into individual choices for sustainability. Call reps. Get out the vote. Vote. Buy less. Buy used. Say no to that plastic bag. Compost. Mend. Get a heat pump. Drive less.

As @bryanbradford.bsky.social said, The first rental company that announces they won't use AI scans is the company that will get all the business.

But in New York, we vote for democrats and then environmental bills get killed in the Assembly. States, now more than ever, must protect the environment. You owe it to New Yorkers to let bills come to the floor for a vote. Democracy = voting. Backroom deals do not serve the people.

Thank you @deborahjglick.bsky.social for championing The Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act.

Plastics are choking our planet and showing up in the brains and blood of our children, which sounds dramatic because it is. We need this bill. Onward!
June 18, 2025 at 7:40 PM
It's time for @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social to put the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act up for a vote.

Oceans should have whales, not plastic packaging and not whales with stomachs full of plastic. Do right for New Yorkers and for our waterways. Put the bill on the floor.

Hey New York residents, this is it!! Today is the last day for the Plastics bill to be voted on.

Please call Speaker Heastie: 518-455-3791. Ask him to get the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act to the floor for a vote today.

Around 5000 showed up in Syracuse to say #NoKings.

Thank you for talking with us about this bill on lobby day and for supporting kids who want an ocean free of plastic.

Assemblymember Meeks holding a shark drawing that my shark-obsessed daughter drew to remind him why she supports the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act.

Please support the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act, @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social. It's popular with New Yorkers.

Meanwhile, it's opposed by the American Chemistry Council. Whose side will our reps be on?

Hey, New Yorkers, please call your Assembly Members. The house has until June 12 to pass the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. @beyondplastics.bsky.social

This is not okay.

Action you can take today: save old growth forests by switching toilet paper brands. Charmin clearcuts old growth forests for their toilet paper.

Oh, also call your rep. Say no on destroying our children's ecosystem.

Drove to Albany on a snowy day to support the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. As a mom, I worry about microplastics and the environmental impacts of plastic.

Looking for @govkathyhochul.bsky.social and @leaderasc.bsky.social to support this important bill. #BeyondPlastics

I'm moving into the next four years ready to make all the important phone calls. Let's not to waste our energies on what doesn't matter. Call. Write. Make noise in meaningful ways.

NPR just posted a story about how the United States is increasing energy use.

My daughter asked me to help her care for her Tamagotchi and now I can't. stop. taking. care. of. it.

And so I syllabi create and play games with this jerk who gets visibly angry every time it loses.

When we moved to upstate NY, the timeline was so tight that we bought our house without seeing it. And yet somehow, we lucked into a tiny neighborhood that puts out luminaries at Xmas and gathers to sing carols.

White Xmas is also a nice touch.

What will last longer on this planet? This plastic bottle in the Target parking lot or me?

New York can turn off the plastic tap and reduce trash costs! It's time to pass the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. @beyondplastics.bsky.social
