I think most aren't. But it's more telling of their character when something does come out and how they react. Do they learn, apologize, try to fix things etc. or do they darvo, double down, turn it into a grift? I think the former would understand if you were still too uncomfortable to be a fan.

You and me both. Tech jobs were especially torture. Too much for me. But I found baking out of it oddly enough, and I am good at that too. So that's something.

This can work for cis people to help explain to others. Straightforward. Being confident in what being trans is helps with approaching advocacy: glaad.org/transgender/... - also specific tips for allies: glaad.org/transgender/...
Also if they don't know something, it's fine to be honest about that.

It's actually more considerate rather than selfish as it feels to some. Because you recognise the keenness but want to be as keen yourself and that can involve being wide awake for it.
