This is why I know the kids—the generations coming up—are going to be okay: I work in a lot of coffee shops and everywhere I go, from rural West Virginia to urban Brooklyn, the kids are reading. Even though the world is harsh right now, the kids are alright.

Today’s 200-level Humanities assignment was for students to listen to my voice memo detailing my process of writing the travel essay I’ve linked here.
In her response, one student called my recording a “voice memoir.”
