I'm a professional chemist, have 3D printing/scanning/modeling as a serious hobby, and interested in trains, videogames, and AI/ML.
One old game that I still really enjoy is a browser space strategy game, OGame. While the "commercial" version is super P2W, there is a community based verison based on the classic OGame, pr0Game. This week I reached top 5 new players and my alliance is in the top 5 as well. www.pr0game.com Uni6

You have to appreciate the support of a tutorial that encourages you to share your crappy first blocky model with your friends to impress them with your new skills in OpenSCAD. So I share this with you all...

Dehydrating a crap ton of cayenne peppers for our own spice blends and making red sauce from our garden tomatoes...at least some things pretend to be normal.

Not a bad way to spend Saturday evening...

Laptop sticker update.

First attempt at making a hot sauce with hot peppers from our garden. Base of poblano, shishito, and jalapeño peppers. Heat from habanero, cayenne, tobasco, and Carolina reaper peppers. Not bad for a first try.

Fire roasting some peppers on the grill for curry tonight. Almost everything veggie will be from our garden.

Enjoying some Battlestar Galactica Online...thank goodness for private servers after the game was abandoned.

Enjoying a nice oddly cool (relatively) afternoon, given thr recent heat. If only the ants would stop trying to crawl up my legs.

EVE: Frontier update. Turrets definitely keeping the base defended in my absence...the cookies are safe. Prepping for more expansive exploration along the frontier for this cycle.

Living on the EVE: Frontier. Finally able to make my first building foam and used it to increase the security of my base :D

Capped the solo stove last night...apparently the fire persisted with enough embers to restart today

First backyard outside fire of 2025. Solo stove rocking

Lined up the yo-yo collection for a glamour shot. From left to right: Duncan Butterfly, Duncan Dragonfly, Yomega Raider, the Sage from yoyotricks, Yomega Maverick, MagicYoYo, Duncan Windrunner, and Duncan Torque. The Sage and Raider are my usual go-tos for day to day fun.

Nothing like a quick Railroader session to start a relaxing Sunday.

Seems a fitting message for the current goings on...

Recently been getting back into some of the browser games I used to play in the naughty aughties. Nothing quite like feeling like an admiral when you have 93% of your ships in fleets on the move. OGame is the game, been around forever.

Was looking back through my 3D printing timelapse clips and found one that really impressed me at the time. Printing a wireframe skull with an FDM printer with about the same quality as I expected from my resin printers. Transparent PETG is such a pain, needs to be dried well.

Nothing like the knowledge of being vacation so getting out of bed at 2PM on Sunday isn't a huge waste of free time...plus bonus puppy snuggles.

Starting a new save in Railroader using the experimental branch. Going to miss some mods but its worth it to test the new features. Might turn it into a video series.

Printed this crazy double helix basket...minimal stringing with this many gaps and no support. Pretty satisfied with default P1S settings and PETG that's been in the AMS for a few weeks. From thingiverse.com/thing:6837348

Had this as a poster over my personal fume hood in grad school for 5 years before my PI noticed. He looked up, processed it, and just shook his mustache and said "I don't know what to say to that" and walked away. After 5 years, I was waiting for more...

Toasty fire...reflection of the tree...time for ornaments!
December 8, 2024 at 1:28 AM
Getting into the festive spirit. Here's a selection of 3D printed trees. The small teal tree is a model created using Meshy.ai from a picture of our actual Christmas tree...crazy.
