(Mine dentist was also able to re-attach a permanent wire I've had since the rest of my braces came off, 25+ years ago, an end of which popped loose 2 years ago.)

I'm not sure hygienists are trained to be able to identify cavities? Or, even if they can, they almost certainly can't treat them. But if it's a minor thing, a dentist can drill/fill on the day if need be.

My dentists have never *cleaned* my teeth. They just inspect them, and the gums, and take x-rays, and make referrals (when needed). They might scrape a bit of scale off, and maybe given me some fluoride treatment (in the US), but they don't *clean*. Hygienists do!

The *only* thing that has managed to get me to brush me teeth at least once a day for the last ~12 years is the (by now not so small) person who depended on me to set a good example for them.

Aww, thank you! It's amazing how I can be both almost wholly grey AND have people think I'm 10 years younger than I am. :)

I looked for my favorite, read the description, found it completely accurate, wondered what the others would've said, and then laughed so hard.

Had an amazing weekend -- went to a film festival (in York, England) where a documentary I took part in was being premiered. (Voice Shift -- about various trans femmes journeys with their voice.) it's a weird experience seeing yourself on a large cinema screen.

How about a #LogicWineSelfie, with two cats, watching my kid carve Elmo in flames into a pumpkin.

Even if the question were reasonable, that wouldn't be a suitable answer coming from the people asked to provide references -- the applicant is going to have been either the referee's student or their employee!

That latter suggestion is a good one.

Funny thing is, for students I taught a couple of years ago, it is theoretically possible that I could've taught them for two years and supervised their dissertation without ever having seen them (thanks to online teaching)...

My thoughts immediately went to "they want to know if they have non-White natural hairstyles, without asking what race the applicant is." And then I noped the hell out of that question.

Hahahah, when I picked the "n/a" option, the philosopher in my brain went "they have no phenomena".
