We always knew congestion pricing would get more popular. But to take it to the next level we must reclaim the space and improve public transportation before too many drivers decide to just eat the toll and drive in again.

After years of advocacy, today the Council subcommittee on zoning approved a modified City of Yes that lifts parking mandates in much of the city with other modifications elsewhere. A personal note from me:

I suspect most NIMBYs rank high in harm avoidance and low in novelty seeking. That’s fine as a personality type - not my style, but it takes all kinds. The problem is that we base our entire urban policymaking around a few folks with that specific personality type to the detriment of everyone else.
