Congresswoman Sara Jacobs

Proud to represent San Diego and a new generation of leaders in Congress.
I led a Congressional oversight visit at the USCIS San Diego Field Office to learn more about questionable arrests made by ICE during routine immigration interviews and found their responses wholly insufficient.

We need more answers and more accountability. This has to stop.

Republicans in Congress have repeatedly gutted programs that fight hunger.

I’m grateful that organizations like Produce for Good, which operates in food recovery and assistance, are stepping up in our community – but we need Congress to restore federal funding for food programs like SNAP.

Will the FBI investigate President Trump's call for the deaths of sitting Democratic lawmakers?

Donald Trump just signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law — but what happens next?

I was glad to join American Legion Post 303 to recognize Veterans Day and pay tribute to everyone who has worn our country’s uniform and the families who have stood beside them. It was also my honor to recognize Fred Green, El Cajon American Legion’s Veteran of the Year!

San Diego: now is the time to prepare for this weekend's storm. Take a look at these tips to prepare and find out how to report any damage or issues.

It was my honor to recognize these Vietnam veterans in my district and present them with a Vietnam War Commemoration Pin as a small token of our gratitude. It represents a promise that we won’t forget their service and their sacrifice for our country.

The House just passed a funding bill that does NOTHING to stop 15 million Americans from being kicked off their health care or protect our democracy. But it DOES let Senators involved in the January 6th investigation SUE the government for $500,000 each.

In case it wasn’t clear, I voted NO.

After 7 weeks of stalling, Mike Johnson finally swore in Rep. Adelita Grijalva — and she became the 218th signature on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files. The American people deserve transparency and the victims deserve justice. Today, we’re one step closer.

I joined Feeding San Diego to distribute food in Sorrento Valley to our neighbors who are struggling to put food on the table — all because Republicans have refused to reopen the government. Thank you to everyone who is stepping up for our community right now.

I was proud to join Teamsters Local 542 for Veterans Appreciation Day. Working people keep our country running and it’s our veterans who have kept us safe. I'm so grateful for their service to our country and our community.

I joined the San Diego Food Bank for an emergency food distribution for federal workers, military families, and everyone needing some extra help right now. It shouldn’t take a court order to force the Trump Administration to do the right thing and even partially fund SNAP.

Donald Trump campaigned on ending the forever wars but he’s launched unconstitutional strikes on Iran and illegal strikes in the Caribbean. He wants to test nuclear weapons again – and now he’s threatening to go to war with Nigeria. This is reckless and doesn’t make us any safer.

The numbers don’t lie.

San Diegans (and people across the country) will pay thousands of dollars more per year for health insurance unless Republicans join Democrats in Congress to extend the ACA premium tax credits.

Open enrollment for 2026 has started. We need action NOW.

Halloween means lots of candy and treats – but do you really know what’s in this stuff?

I’m proud to be introducing my new bipartisan bill – the No Tricks on Treats Act – to require proper labeling of foods containing dyes, flavoring, and sweeteners. Happy Halloween!

ICE just denied our congressional oversight visit to the basement of the courthouse in San Diego today. But we’re not going to stop showing up and asking questions — because it’s our job.
October 27, 2025 at 8:13 PM
I met with San Diego County superintendents and administrators to talk about how federal immigration enforcement near schools is hurting students’ mental health and academic performance and putting enormous pressure on families, teachers, and staff. ICE is making us less safe.
October 22, 2025 at 2:06 AM
I hosted a conversation with military families in Murphy Canyon to provide an update on the ongoing government shutdown and hear about their concerns. I’m doing everything I can to support our military community and reopen the government.
October 21, 2025 at 8:54 PM
I’m hosting an upcoming ceremony to honor Vietnam Veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. If you or someone you know is a Vietnam Veteran in CA-51, please join me to receive recognition: sarajacobs.house.gov/vietnam-vete...

I just met with local health care providers who confirmed: if Republicans let ACA premium tax credits expire, thousands of San Diegans will see HUGE increases in their health insurance costs and be forced to decide between medical treatment and rent. We can’t let that happen.
October 17, 2025 at 3:06 PM
I was glad to meet with local nonprofit partners – including ASYMCA, SDMAC, STEP, Zero8Hundred, and Feeding San Diego – to discuss the impacts of the government shutdown on our service members and their families and how these organizations are stepping up to provide support.
October 16, 2025 at 8:48 PM
This isn’t business-as-usual military action – it’s murder. There was no public evidence, no due process, and no legal justification. Thoughtless action like this is how we wind up in endless wars and how our service members become targets. This is beyond shameful.
October 15, 2025 at 2:02 AM
If Republicans let this happen, millions of Americans will be priced out of health care and be unable to afford chemo, insulin, heart medication, and more.

So Pete Hegseth is getting gender affirming care while kicking highly qualified, highly trained trans service members out of our military? Got it.
