YES! Magazine will be closing, just short of 30 years after we founded it in 1996. Feeling gratitude for what we were able to accomplish, for the support and collaboration, and for the other media who continue the work. Also feeling sad for the many ways independent media is under attack.

Hundreds of protesters turned out for a Hands Off rally here in Bremerton WA, a working class industrial/ Navy town near Seattle. And a pod of orca passed by! There were creative and heartfelt signs, lots of passers-by honking and waving in support, a brass band, and so much energy and goodwill.
