Whenever someone (read: politicians or political commentators) say that something is “common sense”, I take that to mean that they haven’t looked into that particular issue in the slightest, know nothing about it, and have just taken their first reaction to it as gospel.

I had so much imposter syndrome going into research (and still do tbh) but what’s been so nice is talking to other researchers and realising that they also don’t know what’s going on 99% of the time. Because you’re researching things that no one has done before. No one knows the answer. Chill tf out
