“The degree of scientific certainty about the impact of greenhouse gases is now similar to the level of agreement on evolution and plate tectonics, the authors say.”
Friendly reminder because it is more important than ever:

A 2021 survey of 90.000 (!) peer-reviewed articles found more than 99 percent agreement on human-caused climate change.
‘Case closed’: 99.9% of scientists agree climate emergency caused by humans
Trawl of 90,000 studies finds consensus, leading to call for Facebook and Twitter to curb disinformation

An unprecedented study analyzed data from 1991 to 2023 and found that each 0.1°C increase in average global air temperature led to 360 new climate disaster events and damages in Brazil amounting to R$ 5.6 billion ($970 million).

The global warming process has accelerated over the current decade.
Brazil has seen a 460% increase in climate-related disasters since the 1990s
It’s a proven fact: the relationship between rising global temperatures and the number of climate-related disasters is directly proportional. From 1991 through 2023, each rise of 0.1°C in the average ...

Brazil is home to over 200 Indigenous languages. Amazonas and Roraima, to the best of my knowledge, are the only states that recognize some of them as co-official (Amazonas: Portuguese + 16 Indigenous languages; Roraima: Portuguese + 12 Indigenous languages)
Papua New Guinea has 840 living languages — more than any other country.

A living language is one that is spoken by at least one person as their first language. The chart shows the ten countries with the most living languages as of 2024.

Notably, the Met Office notes that record fossil fuel emissions alone can't explain the surge, citing severe heat and drought that weaken carbon absorption by plants and increase soil emissions.
