It would it easier for both of us to meet our objectives (and I think we share very similar objectives) if you save your barbs for bad guys like Trump, and try building bridges with ocean-dependent communities instead.

Commercial fisherman here. I'm a big fan of your outspokeness generally, but the first sentence of your post stings. Not only do I feel personally attacked, but words like this coming from someone like you make it that much harder for me to cultivate faith among my industry on climate issues.

None of this seems nefarious in any way. Are communities not supposed to stick up for themsleves and the places they love in the face of unprecedented development pressures? Unfortunately articles/posts like this make the climate community appear woefully out of touch and willfully polarizing.

RODA also founded and spun off a second nonprofit, ROSA, which coordinates coastwide research and ecological monitoring, which is funded by offshore wind developers and has a board and advisory council made of scientists from numerous institutions.

RODA has worked closely with NMFS scientists and social scientists over several years to publish a 350-page report outlining all that's known and not known about the impacts of offshore wind development on fishery resources, ecosystems, businesses, and communities.

It was my undertsanding, as a member, that RODA filed a lawsuit in order to establish clear precedent around the process for how community and ecosystem impacts would be considered and addressed in offshore wind permitting in the U.S., as the field scales up. Seems like a valid need.

RODA is not an "anti-wind" organization but is focused on ensuring that fishing communities are treated fairly in the rush to develop the seascape -- whether that's for industrial energy or any other form of development, such as aquaculture.

It hurts to read this. I'm a commercial fisherman, a RODA member, and I have collaborated with the individual profiled in the article. She is a person with decades of legal and policy experience in fisheries management, making her eminently qualifed to serve in this position.
