I honestly can't answer the question about her guilt. But what I do know is that she was a victim of her circumstances. The death of her mother and the responsibility she had to face as a really young girl in a foreign country has to have some effect on her development.

Are there coming more chapters from Kim's POV? I really enjoyed reading about her struggle with grasping reality and discern flashbacks from real life.

Ah, I loved Northern Lights/The Golden Compass as a child. But I must admit that the other two in the series did not quite catch me as the first did. Maybe I have to read them again. Have you read The Book of Dust?
