On International Men's Day, I want to reiterate how important it is that we continue to push for increased paid paternity leave. I'm proud to chair the APPG on Family Friendly and Flexible Working, and work with brilliant cross-party MPs, charities, and organisations on this.

Compared to last year, ambulances are arriving faster and NHS waiting lists are down by 230,000. There's still lots to do, but these are great achievements.

Numerous constituents have been in touch with me regarding their experiences with FirstPort. It's an issue that I've raised in Parliament, and will continue to challenge on behalf of my constituents.

I signed this letter alongside a significant number of fellow MPs.

Armistice Day is a time to reflect, as we did on Sunday, on the bravery of those lost by the end of WWI. On Sunday, I visited the Cenotaph in each of our constituency's towns to lay a wreath and pay my own respects.

Lest we forget.

Speaking last week at the All Party Parliamentary Group for Access to Justice meeting.

We spoke specifically on the need to ensure people have access to advice services and surgeries - including pro bono services⚖️

Today, we commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. I’m proud to honour their lives and bravery.

We will remember them.

Some photos from Congleton Bonfire last weekend!🎆

If you’re attending any bonfires or firework displays this weekend, be sure to keep safe and be respectful of people in the area. It can be a tricky few weeks of the year for those with pets or livestock.

A big thank you to Congleton Rotary.

I had the pleasure of visiting Avocet in Holmes Chapel a few weeks ago, and yesterday I was proud to mention them in Parliament.

With such competitive international markets, I asked the Defence Secretary what steps they are taking to support British manufacturing businesses such as Avocet.

Had fun trick or treating with my children this weekend (thanks to all those who were generous with the sweets!), but I can't pretend my decorations were a patch on those I saw at Sparks Lane Nursery...

Their Christmas market is coming up at the end of the month. Mark your calendars!

70% of children in poverty have at least one working parent. Statutory paternity pay is currently so low that men often don’t take it, and commonly don’t take up shared parental leave at all.

This is not a sustainable living for people with children, and we need to look at it urgently.

The biggest change to sexual health services in 60 years. The morning-after pill will now be free in pharmacies across England, in a huge step forward for women's health.

In March, I spoke in the Commons about how difficult it can be for victims of abuse when having to pay a fee to have their details withheld from the insolvency register.

For people who often escape abuse with little more than the clothes on their back, survivors can face a heavy financial burden.

It was a pleasure to take part in the last NFU Food and Farming Fellowship scheme visit. It’s been a great experience to see so much of the farming industry this past year.

Last Friday, we visited FareShare in Liverpool to see how surplus food from farming gets used to help vulnerable people.

I had a lovely visit to the year 8 pupils at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School earlier this week, where I got the chance to talk during their personal development module on politics!

They asked so many insightful questions about what life is like as an MP. What a fab way to start off the week!😊

It was great to appear on BBC Politics North West yesterday morning, where we spoke about housing, devolution, and a whole host of other issues.

Let me know if you caught it yesterday, and if not then you can catch up here! www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Giving women and girls the opportunities to thrive in STEM careers is vital🔭

Ada Lovelace Day celebrates the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Earlier this week I attended an event on Women in STEM where I met representatives from organisations such as STEMAZING - a non-profit which aims to amplify the voices of women in STEM across the country 🔭 👩‍💻 📐

It's World Mental Health Day. Now is a better time than any to remind ourselves how vital it is to, first and foremost, look after ourselves.

But it's not just about today, there are resources available year-round to support yourself and others with mental health and wellbeing.

Parents of SEND children having somewhere they can meet and chat is really important, so they can share their own challenges and solutions.

I was so glad to meet with some of these parents. I'm dedicated to working hard for the best SEND provision possible for parents, carers, and children.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Daneside Theatre, who are now the third organisation in the constituency to benefit from solar panels thanks to Dane Valley Community Energy. They've seen a 15% reduction in energy bills so far!

I had the chance to talk to Cancer Research UK whilst at conference. Over 7,000 people are diagnosed each year with Ovarian Cancer, and I had the chance to hear about a lot about the work that they are doing on a vaccine.

It’s always great to be able to talk to constituents face-to-face at my surgeries. Thank you to everyone who attended in Congleton last week.

Remember, if you’re looking to book a surgery appointment, you can email sarah.russell.mp@parliament.uk and a member of my team can get back to you ASAP!
