After the recent sighting of an all-white Omura's whale off the coast of Thailand, here are some facts to get to know the species:

🐋 They're the most recently identified whale species.
🐋 They can grow up to 40ft in length.
🐋 They're named after Japanese cetologist, Hideo Omura.

Meet the Knysna seahorse, our February #OceanAnimalOfTheMonth. These endangered fish are monogamous and, like many other seahorse species, mate for life. Found in estuaries along the southern Cape coast, they're the only species that is completely estuarine-dependent 🐎💕🇿🇦

Last year's record-high global sea surface temperatures hit coral reefs hard. Not too hot but not too cold is their comfort zone and stressful extremes can cause bleaching aka corals expel algae, lose their colour, and become vulnerable to starvation, disease, and even death 🌡️🧡
