It could never be me (I peaked in that middle zone), but I'm so happy that the people who successfully make the climb get to experience the joy of crackpot lane combos again! 🥹

A lot of the fun I had with League was in the early years, when there wasn't such an established meta, and there was space to play around with unconventional builds/strats. Does that freedom come back when you get into the higher ranks because everyone is executing on a high level? I'm so curious.

In search of "fun", I tried making a LoL smurf account before I quit. I didn't want to stomp people- just relief from the pressure to perform at a high level and always do things "the right way". It felt like there was no room to breathe. Spoiler: It didn't help because everyone was also smurfing.

I experienced this in a very real way with League of Legends. I played from launch and the better my friends and I got, the less fun it got until I quit entirely a couple years ago.
