So this happened. My little book got nominated for a Books of Brilliance Award, by the Readup Book Club, which wad exciting!. And was great to hear it was so loved by the readers.

Well here we go. Its all official. Sight getting worse. But had a lovely call with my local sight loss charity this week about how they can support me . And my blue badge came in time for the new term at wind band, which was great. Still living life as best I can.

May have found one of the best ways to travel tonight, which was a jazz canal cruise where out of this world musicians played magical swing and jazz music down Copenhagens canals. Loved every minute had a great time, was even a clarinet too.

Was a fab and fun concert tonight, had a big audience and really enjoyed the more jazzy jolly second half. Loved our tuba solo, a pretty clarinet piece, and did awesomely with some complicated classicals.

Had a fab day at the Brighton @writershq.bsky.social retreat, working on some edits to my celestial cryptid novella suggested by the wonderful @jmgatford.bsky.social. and was nice to relax by the sea, after a busy month of work. Really needed that, ready to rock and roll again.

Everybody meet Charlie! A new addition to my family, about eight months old. He loves squeaking toys and causing chaos, zooming for balls, and trying to carry several things at once.

Haven't submitted stories in ages but couldn't miss out on @welkinprize.bsky.social when you get a badge. Not sure if will beat last years success, but I don't mind when it's so fun.

Christmas concert today went really well. Had a big audience despite horrid weather. Had a blast playing the pieces, really trusting myself as a musician and just going for it, was so much more enjoyable. Loved playing Frank Sinatra, Bizet, Guys and Dolls, the Polar Express and Scottish reels.

Slowly learning to do christmas my way and filling it with Norse things.
Everyone loved this jumper at a staff work Christmas party, which was great. Had a ball once settled Sarah brain, with some fab wo4kshop discussions. Also got very drunk after and laughed more than had in a long time. Skoll.

So today I tried a new approach to reading sheet music, by magnifying it with my iPad.

And it's incredible. So much bigger and clearer. Can see bar numbers and dynamics, details haven't seen in years. Made it so much easier. Definitely my way forward.
