I'm a product designer and founder at Canny (canny.io), a tool that helps teams build better products by listening to their users.

5/ Want to find your own value metric? Ask yourself:

• What job is my product helping people do?
• What metric grows when a customer is successfully using my product?

☝️ That is what your pricing should be based on.

4/ So we switched back to what worked in our early days: pricing based on the number of users giving you feedback.

Our pricing is realigned with the actual value people get from using Canny.

3/ Teams could share accounts without much consequence meaning our revenue wasn’t actually tied to success.

The real jobs our customers were doing? Collecting and organizing product feedback.

2/ For us at Canny, adding more seats wasn’t actually giving our customers more value. Hence, not a good *value* metric.
