Placebo control trials are standard for medications but not for procedures - Dr Al-Lamee (the force behind the Orbita trials) gave a persuasive talk at #bcs2025 about why placebo control trials for procedures are also needed.

If a screening test that is done over consecutive years has a false positive rate of 10%, by occasion 7 the prob of a false + is 0.522, therefore prep pts to ‘expect a false +’
