What is the dance floor?
I don't think "general" film fans pursue the RPGs. It's the ones who read the 'legends' material, play(ed) the games, and write fanfic who develop theories with the RPGs. I agree that none of it is canon, but a good story/universe inspires the creativity of others and they reach for building blocks.
