No one who has been paying attention is surprised.

But I do wonder: How long do we collectively pretend this doesn’t matter before the whole house of cards collaps under it’s own weight?

Anyway, I long for content that I know was made by humans and is presented to me because I subscribed to it.

I am not the only one, this is why Substack is popular. It's just, there was already a great solution (RSS) that did not have a central corporation hoovering up personal data etc behind it.

RSS is basically perfect.

Podcasts still run on it, and I think this is why the podcast ecosystem has been relatively resistant to enshittification.

Or am I just a cranky old person? I do embrace new tech when it actually seems good, so I don't think so. It's just that newer is not always better.

I am writing this from the perspective of a math teacher/tutor. I love math. But, I am happy to admit it is not everybody's cup of tea.

Beyond that, it is insanely hard for certain kids, whose time would be much better spent in history class (or whatever they are actually interested).

I think so too, but as a very tentative guess.

For sure. It’s terrible that people can be so easily manipulated. I don’t know what the solution is though.

(And yes, I dislike generally everything Russia does. I was just focusing my point on the question of election interference)

I obviously dislike what Russia did on TikTok to Romania (and Ukraine). But it’s still just an advertising campaign, right?

So, the people got persuaded by the campaign and actually voted for the candidates that got elected. Or was there direct hacking of election machines to switch votes?

The Dwarves and forest creatures need to get their shit together and go fight the wolf. Even though the wolfs even scarier ogre friend is also there.

I savored every word of this.

In a world of AI slop, it was a delight to read. And, of course, it made some great points. Thanks for sharing.

A world where human rights and international law is completely abandoned in favor of conquest is not a world I want to live in. Nor should you. It will not stop in Gaza. Next is Ukraine, Greenland, Taiwan. Then... who knows.

I don't know what the solution is. But, I know it's not despair.

Anyone who tells you otherwise wants cover for the IDF to continue the genocide. You might ask, But why would they do such a thing?

Fundamentally, Israel is a colonial project and they want the land. To get it, they need the IDF to kill the natives. It is really as simple and sick as that.

You are worse than Holocaust deniers.

This tactic make actual anti-Semitism harder to call out because the word has become meaningless.

And, real anti-semitism around the world is increasing because of how successfully the hasbara has conflated Israel with Judaism. It is all Israel's fault.
