Professor of health administration at Eastern Michigan University. Likes: community supports for healthy aging, dad jokes, DCFC, cheese. Dislikes: systemic injustice, COVID, the patriarchy. she/her/hers
Yesterday's respite from the terrible terribleness: a delightful evening baking pavlovas with my niblings.

The big one is in charge of the nuance of egg white peaks. The little one is in charge of food coloring and edible glitter. And my sister is in charge of the aftermath in her kitchen.

Have you tried gluing shit together? I'm very into elementary school crafting right now. Felt. Rhinestones. Whatev. Michelle probably needs more Halloween decorations.

Unintended metaphors during a discussion of the hidden curriculum during an EMUFDC workshop with @thetattooedprof.bsky.social today...

College is hard enough. Given the choice between the needless irritation and the somewhat excessive amount of help, be the big ass fan.

Thanks for the suggestions, Pinterest. I'm not sure these haircuts would suit me, though

Don't sleep on the new Swell Season album. Saw them play last night in Detroit. This might be the best example of former romantic partners channeling their mess in service of the music since Fleetwood Mac

Rebelling against injustice is an American value.

Loads of great signs at #NoKings Ann Arbor, but shout out to the lady with the Michigan-est one...

Great, slightly overwhelming turnout at #NoKings Ann Arbor.

Peony garden still looks beautiful after the protest. Everyone can relax.

This was delightful. You should go if Sarah Millican comes to your town.

Also, I am never getting out of this parking garage.

Today's respite from the terrible terribleness: beginner stained glass class at the Michigan Folk School.

Pro tip: I set up a letter writing station with addresses for elected officials at the Memorial Day cookout (would also work for July 4th, but I don't host that one)

Makes it feel a little less weird to celebrate the holiday when you no longer recognize your own country.

Summer is a nice respite from academic imposter syndrome.

Gives me a chance to catch up on feeling incompetent in other areas of my life. Like today, I've been taken down a few pegs by this string trimmer.

I was given too much goat milk, so I made too much ricotta.

I some to make too many gf lemon poppyseed ricotta cookies. But I still have too much ricotta.

Thoughts on what I should make tomorrow, #bakingsky?

Panda is a very good girl, but Panda Marie knows it's time to listen.

Okay, it's possible I call @debbiedingell.house.gov more often than I call my parents...

It was hard to walk and hold a sign and take pictures of all of the signs that amused me while also cropping out the faces on anyone who did not expressly consent to be photographed because they're @#$%! disappearing people...

But a few more from #HandsOff Ann Arbor

A few more good signs from today's #HandsOff Ann Arbor rally.

Met up with a bunch of friends on purpose at #HandsOff Ann Arbor... and then ran into even more familiar faces along the way. (Shout out Berkley High Class of '96) Rain held off. All in all, a great afternoon

Nice to see @debbiedingell.houseArbor at #Handsoff Ann Arbor!

Me: reads 57 articles about strategic resistance, putting together a safety plan for protests, limiting communication on public platforms, dressing in non descript clothing...

Also me: I should probably go with a bold lip if I'm going to post all of my plans & a million selfies online... #handsoff

EMU's Undergraduate Symposium is always one of the bright spots of the academic year.

Beautiful sunset for my walk home tonight. Sadly, a little too low to the horizon to frame up behind the water tower.

I'm not sure I have the emotional distance for all of the 5-year anniversary articles highlighting just how much we haven't learned from the COVID pandemic.

But today is the 5-year anniversary of Panda coming home to help me get through the COVID shutdown. She has learned all kinds of things.
