Sometimes the light is murky, dimmed by time and circumstance. Sometimes the light is harsh and painful but hopefully that will change us as a society where we no longer allow powerful men who make things we like to consume abuse women over and over again because we don’t want to look at that light

However once we learn about an artist and the person they are as shown by the deeds they have done and the things they have said, everything they have created now needs to be seen through that light because that is the light in which it was created.

But “I love the art” you say. That’s okay. I love it too. Art changes us in the moment of time when we experience it. At that point it no longer belongs to artist because we see it through our experiences and the two meld and become part of us.

Let me be clear as someone who studied art, art history and art philosophy: there is no separating the art from the artist.

Let me repeat that: YOU CANNOT SEPARATE THE ART FROM THE ARTIST. IF YOU PRETEND OTHERWISE IT IS WILLFUL IGNORANCE.

But “I love the art” you say. That’s okay. I love it too
