I told my students last year how much I was making as an adjunct and they were like, "Wait. That's less than each of us paid to take a class. Where is the money going?" Good question.
I told my sister-in-law my salary last night & she was totally shocked. she was like, “I was sure you were in the six-figures.” she works in medical administration & makes 20K more than me a year

just so everyone knows—assistant professors in English lit DO NOT make six figures.

Did you know that in the 1940s, Ray Bradbury earned about 8¢ per word? In the 21st century, an SF writer also makes about 8¢ per word.

I saw someone complain that writing excuses added ads, because "they're all best selling authors and didn't need the money"

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

Call retiring Senators too!

So a couple of days ago when I suddenly stopped spending time here, it was because I saw an article saying that an order came down to remove pages about women in NASA and it set my hair on FIRE

So I went straight to The Lady Astronaut series because

1. fuck you!
2. The new book is coming out soon.

Never underestimate my level of petty or the lengths I will go to inconvenience myself to prove a point. I’m more than happy to take time out of my day to let the developers at google maps know about their mistakes… it would be a shame if others did the same

If you need a little break today, how about a free, cozy, romantic story?

Featuring a potions witch, her mysterious new neighbor, a pastry war, and a snow storm.

And a chaise in a private library, as a treat. 👀😏

I am awash with contradictions. I want to write and share my words with the world, but I am terrified to see its reception. I love an online reader community but don’t know how to exist in it as a writer. I’m in this liminal space, trying to find my footing and my boundaries.
