My Duce ancestors are some of the first to cook fish and chips! They moved from Cambridgeshire up to Bradford to feed the masses. Clara “Granny” Duce was quite the business woman.

My grandad owned this. Which was worrying when you saw his homemade food blender made from a lawnmower engine (kitchen repainted, nanny furious) or loft conversion which used cardboard instead of plasterboard and electrical work so dangerous the sparkie took it out to frame it!

Our house was not connected to electric till 1982 and I can remember my mum getting a twin tub. It was a great day if slightly terrifying as it danced across the floor.

Our arch rivals on primary inter school sports day. They had the upper hand on the running, what with having flat grass but we usually triumphed in high jump as we practiced by jumping over the wall in Manish.

Butteries/rowies do they count? Super savoury and must be buttered till you can leave teeth marks in the butter. Although traditionally east coast Scotland I work with a lady who has made a dark chocolate and nutmeg versions, plus the regular that she sells from a honesty shed in the Isle of Harris

My dad put an old lintel from this house in the garden, (aligned to the front door!) where it was a modern day menhir till his untimely demise 30 years later. It is now his headstone. I live here now and have installed mine in the same spot, hopefully not needed soon!

It was the old post office, in the village of Manish, it was hard sure, but it would have been a busy place. My old primary school is just beyond, we used to play here. A very old photo, barely a roof now.

This instantly reminds me of my grandma Toni, who used to make this regularly. Here she is in her kitchen making tea cosys chic.
