This also means saying a bittersweet goodbye to Wealthsimple Media. It's been a treat helping grow TLDR into Canada's most-read financial newsletter. Thank you to everyone who read or listened to the podcast and who shared their personal finance stories with me.

As they say: some personal news.

I'm excited to share that I'm joining @betakit.com's newsroom as their new managing editor. I can't think of a better time to be telling the stories of what's happening in tech — these journalists are Canada's best on that beat.

U.S. Fed. Chair Jerome Powell on why he's not commenting on the trade war and its effect on businesses.
April 4, 2025 at 5:07 PM
3. Fed Chair Jerome Powell says he's glad to be called boring. "We don't look at political cycles ... we're a source of calm, rational analysis, and stability." (This is also why he wears a non-partisan purple tie.)

Three things I learned from U.S. Fed Chair Jerome Powell this morning:
1. He's "not at liberty to say" if there's a central banker group chat. (He later clarified there isn't, but they all talk regularly, don't lobby each other on policy.) He also wouldn't share his counterparts' sentiment.
