Yes it is always the same misconception. We do parent information evenings, assemblies, letters home all making it clear that it is high grades they need not more grades. I genuinely believe that a deep understanding of double is much better prep for a level than a poor understanding of triple.

Does your school not offer triple currently?

I suspect it being open to all students won’t translate to many more doing it as the proposed new progress 8 measures don’t favour schools putting more students through triple.

Oh I see what you mean. I’d personally advise against the triple foundation route. The grade boundaries are brutal.

Why 8 exams? I don’t follow. Triple is 6 papers same as double. Just each paper is longer. Realistically I can’t see much changing for most schools. They should be ‘entitled’ to do triple but we would still advise against it for most.

It does appear to be worded that it is offered to all, not that all have to take it. It also says that science needs to be slimmed down through so I’ll be interested to see what that entails.

Interesting how it’s worded though. Cutting science and history to leave ‘time’ for other non-examined subjects. Are they suggesting to give history and science less time?

Yes, quite beautifully described! I’m desperately hoping that the curriculum reform will slim down the science curriculum to give us more time for this. Currently it can feel like, against my better judgement, I’m just shoving more birds into the cage 😂😂

It’s much quieter on here but as someone who doesn’t need to advertise on SM for any of my income, e.g. book sales/ CPD income, I can afford to stick to my morals. Sadly the more vocal teachers often can’t so many have remained more active on X. I can’t justify being on X at this point.

I love how all students end up with more similar work. No more scrappy books. No copying off the board. We can do beautiful scaffolding of I do we do you do. It’s definitely upped the amount of independent practise done and we’ve enjoyed jointly planning them so overall very positive.

I do love booklets - we are an iPad school so most students work on the iPad. Prior to that we had scrapped exercise books and only had paper booklets and it was fairly cost neutral. No more printing worksheets and sticking paper onto paper.

We have now moved towards not using PowerPoints and using booklets more. We have a SoL but conscious that for many a quick look at the booklet is their planning. Is ‘working through the booklet’ the new ‘clicking through the PowerPoint’?
