It depends on the environment, though. Here in Brooklyn we've been trying to unseat the Dem machine for years. Every time we make a dent, they change the rules, exploit the system, undermine democratic processes, etc. Since Brooklyn is solid Dem, there's no incentive for them to change at all.

Absolutely: I first listened to them in 1982 on a cassette mixtape a friend made me, and they were magic.

I saw the 1983 film when it first came out. It was a star-making vehicle for Raúl Julia, William Hurt played radically against type as a fey movie-mad queen (& won an Oscar), and it brought Sonia Braga to a US audience. It was incredible.

I didn't even know this new one existed.
