Aside from Intel, memory chipmaker Micron is the biggest U.S. recipient of CHIPS Act cash. TSMC declined comment. Micron, Samsung and the White House did not respond to requests for comment. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Tuesday that Lutnick was working on a deal with Intel to take a 10% government stake. "The president wants to put America's needs first, both from a national security and economic perspective, and it's a creative idea that has never been done before," she told reporters.

Apparently (and I was not the one to figure this out) Trump’s claimed “tariffs charged to the U.S.” are simply trade balance with U.S. divided by imports to U.S. In other words - not tariffs:

This is one of the most infuriating emails I have ever received. And I field a lot of dumb emails.
An email from the Indiana Democratic Party with the subject line “leadership” and the following text: Friend, This week has shown our country what leadership is — and what it isn’t. While families grieve and first responders do their jobs, Donald Trump once again points fingers and pulls Americans apart. We aren’t even two weeks into this second Trump term and he and his cronies are already dismantling America’s government, raising tariffs and costs for people, removing our country from important international alliances, and giving billionaires control of our economy. Americans deserve so much better. Yesterday, we elected Ken Martin of Minnesota the next Chair of the DNC. Ken is a good friend to state parties.
