You forgot to mention that the superintendent gave himself a $60,000 raise this year as well as raises for multiple other people in district administration. Hard to convince teachers they need to take a significant pay cut/furlough days when the non student facing positions are getting raises!

One way you can fight for Oregon students is by fully funding our schools! District across the state (the one I work in included) are facing huge deficits and will be letting go of many teachers and support staff! Please approve a budget that reflects how much you say you care about our students!

Or maybe it’s the parents who show movies instead of reading to their children from an early age? As a teacher, I can tell you that we are NOT just showing movies rather than reading, most can’t even sit through a whole movie and most are so apathetic towards their education it wouldn’t even matter
