She ran last cycle for a state senate seat, with the slogan “Kate Barr Can’t Win”- because she wasn’t running for the seat so much as she was running against gerrymandering. www.charlottemagazine.com/kate-barrs-s...

In a K-shaped economy where affluent shoppers are spending disproportionately and propping up the economy (and, yes, therefore obscuring how bad things are for a lot of people), not sure this explanation quite hits the mark. Try again, Target. You’ll get there.

And I’ll add Stein/Trump in NC as other example- those two disparate outcomes didn’t hinge on some technicality of policy that voters cared desperately about. I’d argue that those outcomes hinged on vibes and personality, and gut feelings voters had about those various candidates.

You’re both right here, in a sense. Tom’s math is right on where/how much the needle ultimately needs to move- that’s just reality of the Electoral College. But you’ve got the right idea on the how of the project. And to Tom’s point about looking at Slotkin/Trump in MI 1/2

Don’t! They are not the same. Those districts in FL went R by 30+ points in Nov- they were never truly winnable, and I hate that people were given false hope. Trump won WI- and this is a state wide vote- by less than 1%, and Baldwin WON (also state wide)

Yeah America had the foresight to build both the Great Wall and Notre Dame 600 years before we were founded and we really don’t get enough credit for that.

I guess I just don’t get where you get the third party thing when they support Dem candidates, is all. I’ve followed them and other similar orgs like RFS and Emily’s list for awhile and have seen them support Dem candidates all the time (without being an arm of the DNC)

I think you misunderstood “not part of the DNC.” Doesn’t mean they don’t support Dem candidates! There are tons of orgs that support Dem candidates that aren’t part of the DNC.

I believe that was Chris Murphy (who’s also there supporting Booker - Booker stayed for his 15 hr filibuster)
