I am thrilled to see my colleagues, Hugo Garcia, Sam Mendez and Rocco DeVito receiving overwhelming support in their races. I look forward to working alongside these progressive champions next year to focus on solutions for Burien that make us all stronger, safer, and happier.

Thank you to everyone who cast a ballot in tonight's election! While I am deeply grateful for the early results, I want to see every ballot counted before we declare a result. Thank you for your patience while the important process of democracy continues.

It's Election Day!

Today is the final day to get your ballots in by 8pm (please use a dropbox and not the mail!)

I'm proud of the campaign we've run and I hope you are too. Let's finish strong!

JPT didn't know this when creating the piece, but I have always thought of our progressive candidates in a Wizard of Oz theme, myself as Dorothy. To me, this postcard flips that, and has me as the one character who is not in full color because the focus is on how my work came from community need.

So, through Daniel, I contacted JPT to ask for a partnership.
I commissioned JPT (and Elisabeth who designed my mailer!) and they created a people's mailer featuring a few of the times when I succeeded by lifting other people's work the tiny extra bit it needed. I'm so excited we could do this.

I was reminded of the campaign materials my friend Daniel Martin used in 2023 for his campaign.
I was struck by the uniqueness of Daniel’s materials, and inspired to seek out an artist who might capture what I’m all about and why I’m doing this.

The endorsement and support of so many members of our community means the world to me. Thank you!

Thank you @fusewashington.org for this write up in the Progressive Voters Guide! I encourage everyone to consider their recommendations as you're filling out your ballots & don't forget to vote early if using USPS (or use one of the ballot drop boxes!) progressivevotersguide.com/.../general/...

For me, that plan is already made! I always use the drop box, usually the one by my home in Boulevard Park in front of the library. I love the satisfaction of dropping it in and knowing it’s on the way to being counted!

Voting is important to me so I made a plan to ensure I make it happen.

Thank you @jayapal.house.gov ! This is the moment we’ve been working toward!

Had a great time at the Burien Brat Trot today! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Highline Schools Foundation!

I’m excited that Representative Pramila Jayapal @jayapal.house.gov has endorsed my reelection campaign! It feels good to be seen by Burien’s Congressional Representative for the work I have done and the work I plan to continue to make Burien a better city for all.

Public education and public educators play such an important role in our community. I was so honored to receive the endorsements of both Highline Education Association and Washington Education Association PAC.

I attended two great events yesterday: Hospitality House’s Walk for Women and Welcoming Burien!

I could tell he had a grander vision by the careful details and the color pallet he chose. As a proud city representative to the WRIA 9 watershed and as a huge fan of the Environmental Science Center whose booth was across the way, I was thrilled with this salmon!

Had a great time & got my face painted at Arts Aglow. The first stop was Highline Heritage Museum where face painters were decorating kids & grownups alike with rainbows, butterflies, abstract glow, or whatever they requested. I asked Tristen do do “a fish” expecting cartoon goldfish level work.

From day one, this campaign has been rooted in the community. My personal belief is that if we want solutions to the complex problems facing our city, community is where we’ll find them. That’s why I’ve dedicated my time on council to meeting with people who live, work, & play right here in Burien.

Thank you, Burien! While the results won’t be certified until the 19th, today’s ballot drop confirms I will be moving on to the general election.
August 8, 2025 at 5:06 AM
Thank you to everyone who cast a ballot in this primary election! Early results are promising but we aren’t taking anything for granted. Nothing is certain until every ballot is counted. Thank you again to everyone who made your voice heard by participating in our democracy!
August 6, 2025 at 4:10 AM
Every person who turns in a ballot has a right to have their votes counted and in the past we’ve seen some pretty significant swings. I’ll be checking back over the next few days to let you know how we see things. The election will be certified on August 19th.
