Unfortunately, Trump set up DOGE as a department in the White House which is not subject to FOIA and is protected by the Presidential Records Act. It’s a coup.

No, he is immune on Presidential official acts. Most of what’s happening right now is NOT an official act of tbe Executive Branch. Worst case, force SCOTUS to go on record. But we can’t concede in advance. We still must force the issue and perhaps, save our democracy in the process.

They’re banking on havig their “work” done before any challenge makes it through the court and then pardoning anyone who is convicted. We should still fight it anyway.

Trump ordered that he could give security clearances to anyone he wanted to with no reviews, etc. for 6 months. Basically, it’s as if the entire government has been declassified and unlocked for he and his cronies through the summer. The damage will be done far faster than that. But, that’s why.

I don’t understand how they all don’t see how weak and fragile this makes them look.

DOGE was specifically created (by the Exec Order) to be part of the White House, rather tgan an advisory group, so that it would not be FOIA-ble and only subject to Presidential Records Act.

This would not be meaningless. FBI nominee was part of the investigation. Jack Smith said it shed light on what DJT intended to do with the info. The report is relevant to natl security and to our allies, etc. because this is how he and others on his team will treat confidential information now.
