The upwelling of institutional resistance on Wed. is due to the grassroots protests by concerned citizens who have demonstrated the political will to resist T. Resistance by the people reinforces judicial & institutional decisions to push back against T’s vengeance-fueled reign of political terror.

Each of the four canonical gospels tells a different story of Easter, of Jesus’ resurrection.

The one consistent plot line in all of them is that Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene, the Apostle to the Apostles.

Senator Susan Collins was too sick at 10am to attend the Intelligence Committee hearing where she could have asked her own questions to the actors in Signalgate.
But she was recovered enough before the hearing ended to be able to make it to the senate floor for 7 votes over the next 9 hours.

Karoline Leavitt flatly denied any wrongdoing—claiming no “war plans” were discussed, no classified material was shared, and that the White House Counsel’s Office had signed off on the use of these communication channels.

That’s not reassurance. That’s a red flag.

Low-buy means spending money mindfully: is this purchase benefiting a billionaire or a local artisan? Is this purchase something I really NEED or am I dopamine shopping? Our dollars hold a lot of power, and we have the power to put those dollars exactly where we want to support a better future.
Despite more advocacy than ever for sustainable fashion, the fast fashion industry grew 10.74% in 2024 What About Clothing? Support sustainable designers. Many designers create quality, one-of-a-kind garments using repurposed materials. They divert from landfills and offer an alternative to fash fashion. I'm HAPPY to give you a list of my favorites if you're not sure where to start!! Shop second-hand. Thrift stores are bursting at the seams with barely worn clothing in all sizes and styles for low prices. Participate in a clothes swap. Bring in your gently used garments and leave with the same number of items from someone else's closet. You can organize this with friends and neighbors, too! Re-love your wardrobe. Find new ways to style the existing clothing in your closet. This will ALWAYS be the most sustainable and cheapest option =)

Kroger and Walmart own one third of the food retail market in the US What About Food? Local farmers. Buy organic, locally-grown produce, dairy and eggs from local farmers, farmer's markets or join a CSA (community-supported agriculture) program. Garden or forage. Start a small garden focusing on foods you will definitely eat and/or can preserve for later use. If you have an Omaha library card, you can get free seeds from OPL's seed library to get you started! Look into produce swaps in your area or organize one yourself! Leave what you have too much of and take from someone else's over abundance. Research grocery stores. If you have to shop chain grocery stores, research who owns them and where their politcal donations go. If you have to go a little out of your way to support a local grocery, consider it! *TIP* If your reason is political, Aldi and Trader Joe's are German-owned, i.e. less impactful on American economy.

Tip for eating (and buying) fewer desserts and snacks: You can have all you want, but you have to make it from scratch! Even More Tips! Buy used. Before you buy anything new, check and see if someone is selling it used. FB Marketplace, eBay, thrift stores and estate sales can be great places to purchase things without creating a demand to make more. Ship less. This ties into shopping local, but CO, emissions from shipping increased 15% in the last 10 years. It also makes consuming extremely convenient. If you wouldn't drive 30 minutes to pick up X item, do you need it at all? Handmade. If you've ever wanted to learn how to make your own soap, bread, yogurt, candles, etc. now's the time! Buy supplies from reputable retailers (preferable small & local!), control exactly what goes in, learn a new skill and spend a cozy afternoon doing it. Bonus points if you invite friends over and learn together!

Guide to Opting Out of the Economy in 2025 To be used as a form of political protest, environmental consciousness, control over your finances or all of the above. Why? Political: it's been made clear over and over again that money, not people, is the most important thing to the leaders of this country. So hit 'em in the only place that hurts: revenue. Environmental: people consume 400% more clothing today than 20 years ago. The labor exploitation and pollution created to sustain this level of purchasing has devastating effects. Finances: this one is self-explanatory, right? Fight rising costs by finding alternative ways to get the things we need. The easiest way to consume less is to make consuming less convenient. General Tips Shop local. When you need to buy something, buy from a local business. Your purchase will directly support the local economy without lining the pockets of billionaire CEO's. Pay with cash. Credit card processors charge around 3% per transaction. They make a lot of money doing very little and can contribute to higher costs to cover these fees on the merchant side. Cancel subscriptions. Amazon Prime is the big one, cancel it. Take stock of your streaming services and auto-fill subscriptions and only keep what you absolutely need. One in, one out. Don't buy more of a thing until you're out of it (or nearly out): cosmetics, household cleaners, etc. Good, ol' castile soap can clean most things around the house, no need to buy 17 different products! The easiest way to consume less is to make consuming less convenient. More Tips Utilize your local library. You don't need to purchase every book you want to read and many have wonderful free community programs. Omaha's has a seed library you can "check out" (no need to check back in) free vegetable and flower seeds for your garden donated by local gardeners! Buy Nothing groups. This is the only reason I still use Facebook: to participate in my neighborhood's Buy Nothing group. No money exchange, just kind folks giving away things they no longer need to someone else who does. Barter. Don't underestimate the power of trade! Quality over quantity. Focus necessary spending on items that are reusable (silicone Ziplocs over plastic), repairable (things that you'd be able to fix instead of replace should they break), and quality items in general. They'll cost more initially but will last you for years and years to come.
