Next in my Language of Flowers series: Belladonna. ☠️ There are quite a few flowers that are both beautiful and toxic, but one of the most infamous (esp in pop culture) is Belladonna, aka Deadly Nightshade. Victorians added it to bouquets to symbolize silence. Perhaps as a threat or omen?

I'm going to start sharing more about the meanings behind the flowers I use in my work through a new little Language of Flowers series. To start: Dogwood! The Victorians used them in bouquets to represent Duration and Durability, most likely because they're hearty and have been around a long time.

I 💜 symbolism and use a lot of it in my work. Its not always apparent, so I'm going to start sharing more about it. To kick things off, here's "For Luck" and a breakdown of the icons I've included. By putting these together, this illustration is a wish or manifestation of luck.🍀

Happy May and Mental Health Awareness month! My journey with depression and anxiety started 20+ years ago and I still go through periods where I'm on top of self-care, and periods where I'm not...usually when I'm super stressed and need it the most. 😬 How do you practice (& remember) self-care?

Drawing a lot of flowers lately. Trying to create something pretty amid such societal turmoil feels both trivial and important.

Call your reps today. Here in Alabama, my congressman doesn't listen to his constituents. But I'm calling anyway. My family, along with 72 million others depends on Medicare for lifesaving coverage.

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

A factual, objective statement. But palatable. 💔 It's been a long time since I've made work that's blunt, has text, or is specifically politically inspired... I'm not sure why. It's time to embrace it again.
