Cashier: Do you want this makeup bagged separately?
Me: Nope. Throw it in with whatever.
Bagger bags the lip gloss separately.
Me, in my head: Why do they ask?

We went to a restaurant tonight that required reservations. I made a reservation and didn't think to mention that we would need a spot for a wheelchair. We hadn't been there before.

When you finally take a day off from work but then realize you have a zoom meeting at 3 that you still need to attend. And then you waste most of the day waiting for that dang meeting... I am bad at this.

Steve is laughing hysterically from the other room. I ask, "What are you laughing at?" Through the cackling he barely chokes out: "Porch pirates and glitter."

Are we all just so tired?

Sometimes I play the game where I see how long my husband can talk without me saying anything in return or listening to what he's actually talking about. 7 minutes this time. All about some video game he just finished. Yawn.

Our knack for timing restroom stops just when they're cleaning the gas station bathrooms is uncanny.

Finally asleep and woken up by an 🐞 crawling on my face. I hate everything.

I'm at the Betsy-Tacy Convention with my mom and truly this is such a gift to have time with her, learning about her favorite book series. This is so niche.

Even if I doubled the time I have available for the things I ought to get done it would not be enough.

Watching the Okoboji Writers Retreat unfold gives me hope for Iowa and the country even. This part of my job does not suck.

Seems unfair that we have earwigs, fruit flies, and mosquitoes all at once. Cmon frost. Help a girl out.

If you enjoy the thrill of panic cleaning for company right before they show up, you should try running a retreat center with limited staff in the shoulder season. The cabins were clean but alas, the spiders have taken over.

This is not important at all. After using mayo for a couple years, I switched back to miracle whip. Everything tastes right again. Mom was right the whole time. #tangyzip

Coffee after 8?
Still trying to find sleep now.
Dumb! I know better.

"Can you do the griddy, Peyton?
"A man needs to know his limits."
Lol. #manningcast

I'm loving that former Broncos kickers have gone on to be loved by other teams. I will always cheer for McManus and Prater (unless they end up on the Raiders.) Go kickers!!!!

If you had told me one of our Iowa senators was announcing that they would not run for reelection next time, I would first be delighted and second assume it was the other one who turns 92 in like a month. Still... let's turn a page Iowa! Plz.

I don't throw down Rev before my name often but I did on a note I left for the Bible Conference folks staying at our retreat center this week. Three conversations as a result of that note have reminded me how grateful I am for the Presbyterian Church USA & my particular flavor of theology.

I just want to see him do the shuttle race with the chalkboard erasers once.

You know what I hate? Hearing a noise you think is your cat but then seeing both cats asleep on the couch. There's something under the sink in the bathroom and I'll be damned if I'm going to open the door and risk letting it out.

Today I hit a 21 day streak of meeting my step, activity minutes, and calorie burning goals. 🔥 This likely will not hold all summer because of my ridiculous summer camp schedule, but it feels good to hit 3 weeks of being healthier. ❤️

I decided on the tattoo I would get if ever I got one: "capable of anything" But I would want the font to be Ben Folds' handwriting. So if I ever meet him and can get him to write that for me... just throwing that out into the universe and willing it to happen

Word on the street is that I have a beautiful colon. Get a colonoscopy if you can. The nap is fantastic and it was the best damn toast.
