It would take me three white papers, a massive spreadsheet, and a powerpoint deck from 2010 to explain why the text accompanying this NASA budget chart is so funny but please know I'm laughing hysterically. (by way of trying: "all this has happened before and all this will happen again")
The text reads: Beginning in FY 2026, the Office of Communications will restructure the organization to an Agency or centralized structure vs Center-specific to eliminate functions not statutorily mandated, except functions the Agency deems necessary, consolidate management layers and duplicative functions, and evaluate/implement technological solutions that automate routine tasks. The table is titled NASA Communications Budget Summary, By Center. The table shows that each Center except headquarters has had their budget reduced to zero.
