I used to slow casserole them in the oven with cinnamon and sometimes apples to sweeten them up. The trees here don't have thorns though. Do you have japonica quince?

hmm, I love quince but I've never met one of the fruit that I would want to eat raw. I wonder if the raw edible ones are old varieties or new.
