The word expend comes to mind as a little more permanent than spend. Sacrifice feels like the next stronger expression.

I feel like using the destroy keyword in this case is more contextually confusing than having two terms. Notes that the two are mechanically the same could help.

With no rival, I can happily say ‘Long Live Evil’ by Sarah Rees Brennan. 😈 It’s a most delightfully self-aware portal fantasy I know and had me laughing and cackling more than anything else I’ve read for a while.

On looking deeper, the word has a longer history, but that was the first time I remember encountering it. That moment where the Avatar movie makes you wonder if it wanted to be regarded as serious or self-aware satire.

It's very weird to me that it evidently has a cultural footprint that's entirely outside my visibility. Past the original release timeframe, I can't remember having it come up in a single conversation. Never anything more than maybe a joke referencing unobtanium. 🤷‍♂️

The way I read it, Easton's PTSD blends into a kind of mysticism about their experience with war which somehow dovetails into the magical encounters with the moroi. The bridge between those things lets Easton confront the moroi in a space where the rules are different. It's intriguing.

Ohhhh, yes. I am eagerly awaiting the joy this will bring. (Sadistically waiting. 😇 )

Sounds like some kind of quantum-bs infestation event. One warlock has replaced all of their roommates simultaneously. I can’t quite picture what the agenda is, but it sounds ominous. 😈

"I'm having a great time down here."
...
"Are you going to join me, or what?"

Maybe the first one, possibly the second. Not the third one.

“Tuesday, when you sound like this, stay home. Don’t show up!”

“Hm. You don’t even have a stake in these companies, Friday.”

“Let’s just call it science,” the day replies as the ascent begins.

I really love Alistair Reynolds work and yet somehow there’s a big disconnect between that and how often I get to his novels. I’ve tried to steer my bookclubs onto him without much success. From where I’m standing he deserves far more acclaim than I see him getting.

The future will be six day weeks. 😏

She has so many incredible moments in that show. Most of them involve eloquent swearing. 😁

Admittedly, I really want to see where you're going to go with this.

I feel like that thing’s going to activate a portal or initiate a quest for you. 🙃

Definitely read this as "underbabbled" first. Now I'm wondering when one might experience an insufficient amount of babble. 🤔

Monday is undead? I should have known… 🪦

And also on the more positive end I think of Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, which is intensely a feelings driven experience and that's major component of its success. (Specifically referring to the crowd who forgot they don't even like turn-based games for a while. 😏)

It’s okay; you can always get another Thursday. 😉
September 25, 2025 at 3:55 PM
Ominously, that would explain some things...

Might've just been ghosts. Don't rule it out.

They would never be the same again after ‘The Experiment’…

I can never understand how quarantine only has one 'r'.

The laugh’s going to be on us when Thursday comes back all mutated and monstrous.
