i'm not against a bleak movie. in fact i looooove one. i'm against ones that make it seem like the subjugated suffer because of their own pathologies and not due to a larger system and/or culture that allows- or possibly even necessitates- their abuse.

i think a lot of people find goodbye to the past kinda underwhelming outside of wysocka's performance but idk it just really resonated with me. it captures that almost anti-nostalgia feeling that nothing is as you remember but not because you've romanticized it just because the world denies the past
