After playing ESO during it's yearly expansion drops, I'd say a few years per expansion is worth it! And it's good to remember DT is meant to be an ARR to a whole new storyline, so that lull people feel is natural imo.

I'm basing it off of noticing predatory practices, which splitting a single game into multiple episodes is. It was predatory with the Walking Dead and it is here now, no matter how much love anyone personally working on it has.

BG3 is larger than FF7 originally was and it still manages to be 1 game

When the entire reason it was greenlit was because nostalgia is a cash-cow in the eyes of people earning money at the top? No.

All of the love from anyone can go into it, but if it's not there at the top, that's how you get convoluted plots that span multiple disks that are then spread years apart.

Creative Business 1 was created with the entire premise and end goal of profit, though. The top-down structure here aims for money above all else, which is evident even with devs who pour love in.

That is what I'm getting at, not the devs.

Oh I'm sure there were devs that did put their heart into it, but that's not what I was talking about, it was the shareholders (similar to your point about publishers).

BG3 is a labor of love because the CEO loves the game and his devs. FFXIV is the same because of Yoshi-P in the same way

Unless Aerith was resurrected, it's not a sequel.

Also the developers are listed as Square Enix Creative Business 1, so you can tell they care more about money than the actual game. This isn't a labour of love like ffxiv and Baldur's Gate 3 are, so it will have the pitfalls of being made for money
