that's great, thanks!! I've moved from nixos to aurora (based on fedora atomic), and learning how it gets built left me wondering if there's a better way to do it, specially when customizing a image, something that nixos makes trivial with it's config

will the talk or at least the slides get uploaded somewhere?

well almost, it doesn't seem to be quite able to infer types, not sure if it matters that much though since you'll be passing them through pipes

yep, and it's pretty cool how you can also nixos-rebuild into another host, doing the heavy lifting in your computer

well, i say good, i mean know what you're doing and also willing to tolerate the nix tooling

and fedora atomic is just a little bit bumpy

so I've had this, my theory is that nixos has lots of highs but also quite a good number of lows

if you're good you can climb from the lows to those highs, which feels rewarding

fedora is just flat lol

like someone else said, zen browser or other firefox forks, better not giving more market share to chromium
March 2, 2025 at 3:06 PM
of course a lot of web standards wouldn't actually be standard if it wasn't because of chromium, though by essentially turning into a small (but extremely complex to implement) operating system

we might never see JPEG XL on the web even though Safari and Firefox devs have interest in supporting it just because it doesn't fit in Google's Vision For The Web

tbf I think it requires you to log in, which shouldn't be a thing since they could totally make it follow the browser setting
