Hi Lauren, I write to let you know that I am withdrawing from the Park Board District 4 race. Thank you so much to all my neighbors, supporters, and donors - your belief in me has kept me going this long after the Minneapolis DFL convention. Thank you too to the residents of District 4 for giving me their time. I have loved getting to know you all and learning about issues facing our parks, from buckthorn removal to vehicle miles traveled. This is a difficult decision for me - I was so excited about this race leading up to the convention. My team and I had put in the work, and we knew that on convention day we would either block the endorsement or get it ourselves. As many of you know, Jason Garcia received the endorsement after a protracted and disputed mayoral endorsement process and an exodus of delegates that would have voted for me. That day instantly created more work for my team and me, and frankly, left me with a bad taste in my mouth that has been hard to shake. I love this city and our parks, but there are limits to what one person can physically, mentally, and emotionally take on. Politics in Minneapolis feels needlessly divisive right now. I urge everyone to consider that when we call folks we do not agree with "socialists" or "conservatives", we otherize people with whom we often share similar broad goals but who have different strategies and ideas for how to get there. I believe that solutions that stem from dialogue across differences are better than litmus tests that must be 100% adhered to. I am the fourth candidate now to drop out of the District 4 park board race, and the fourth park board candidate to drop out after the contentious city convention. I hope that, together with these other candidates, my departure from this race can raise awareness around the implications of this state of affairs. Distribute jobs equally and fairly in the Department of Public Works. Assist employed work-ers by making city purchases only from employers who recognize the right of collective bargaining under the Wagner Act. 5. Enforce the Bill of Rights guaranteeing the people their constitutional privileges of freedom of speech, assembly and press. Protect the right of work-ers to picket without interference by the police. 6. Develop and put into effect a city recreation program with careful planning to provide adequate recreation for young and old. 7. Develop and put into effect a modern health program to make available to all the people the modern advancements in medicine. 8. Strive for better control over public utilities and insist on the reduction of exhorbitant gas rates. 9. Recommend the introduction of such changes in the city Charter as shall be beneficial to the City and its residents.

This is a great idea, Dan. Why? Here's my drawing made while listening to Bran too. Of course, I have a BFA.

My Snowdrops are putting on a real show this year. There are now four clusters from my original bulbs planted in 1989.
