there was a stretch of time where that didn’t seem possible, but he’s such a good kid, and actively loving him does make me a better person. but i hate that kind of rhetoric, so i don’t think that experience is exclusive to parenting. this is just how it happened for me.

i don’t recommend my way of parenting but it really was the only way it could have worked for me given this problem you’ve cited here

i’ve got to say, watching the federal government work to destroy your profession—work pretty critical to society’s continued existence, i’d argue—while millions of your fellow citizens cheer its collapse is perhaps some of the most demoralizing shit i’ve ever experienced

i’m sure i’ve told you this but an evergreen professor’s feedback to my (admittedly not great) short story was that it was unbelievable because “mothers don’t just leave their daughters” 🤡
