Network Effect is best of all of them.
However I'm currently reading System Collapse and finding it pretty dull and predictable compared to the previous books. Perhaps it will liven up . . .

Yes, the 'world building', as it is now called, is unparalleled. It is hard to describe just how it envelopes the reader!

Thanks - I have found the battle scenes in some of his other books too detailed and overlong, so ended up skipping them. That's also why I haven't yet read this book, but perhaps I will give it a try.

Agreed. Also a lot of religious overtones, which did put me off reading the follow up.
