Next, we studied temporal series of pOXA-48-carrying enterobacteria recovered from patients. Our results strongly suggest that pOXA-48 mediated IS1 transposition promotes bacterial adaptation in vivo through LPS remodelling 6/8

We were able to elucidated the molecular mechanisms governing plasmid-mediated IS1 transposition, which is controlled by a regulatory feedback loop influenced by the genomic copy number of IS1 elements 5/8

We found that the IS1 elements from pOXA-48 helped bacteria to adapt to the experimental conditions by inactivating costly operons such as those encoding the fimbriae or the capsule 4/8

Genomic analyses of the evolved populations revealed an increase in IS1 transposition in pOXA-48-carrying strains. Interestingly, pOXA-48 encodes 2 IS1 elements 3/8

First, we used experimental evolution to study the impact of the widespread conjugative plasmid pOXA-48 on the evolution of 13 multidrug-resistant clinical enterobacteria strains 2/8
