Well one problem here is a spiral of self-fulfilling prophecies. With better support Ukraine could probably be in a much better position to impose terms on Russia. But the western allies kinda decided this is as good as it's gonna get and Ukraine will be forced to factor that in.

Hypothesis: xenophobia and immigration restrictions create societies that hate "strangers" and crave restrictions. Dunno about where you live but in my country the least diverse places are the most racist. An obvious feedback loop. To end this you'd need exposure + no talk about "the good old days"

One nefarious aspect is that this builts on a tendency to not look too closely and puts it on steroids. "Sciency-looking cover" and you get what they aproximately mean and that's enough. And then in a couple of years we'll find we have been sleepwalking looking at nonsense 90% of the time...

...Maybe, unlike anti-vaxxers, we can recognize that there ARE real dangers, but that there is ALSO such a thing as too little tolerance for the risk and pain of being alive and loving another person, and there is such a thing as reaching wrong absolutist conclusions.

Folks love the myth "Once there was a good king, then the bad king usurped the throne, if we restore the good king we'll all be happy". Spoiler alert, the old king sucked too, the right plan is and has always been to deal with our fucking issues du jour on our terms and build a better future.

It's very simple - people hate the present and project all their desires onto a fictional past. It's even older than the nazis building their ideology on some idea of a "pure germanic past" that never was. Oh look, now Europeans believe there was "a better simpler time without immigrants".

Sure on the surface this seems to be done in a "let's find why Hitler was so Evil and make fun of his micropenis" spirit. But it's the exact same logic of people who believe they can find a gene that proves the *genetic inferiority* of any group of choice. "DNA magic" is one ominous belief to have.

Sorry but I feel everyone making "clone nazis would be bad" jokes are kinda missing the point. Nazi clone babies would literally just be regular babies. Nazi dna is just regular dna. It's the people who THINK there is something special to find here who are the problem.

As someone above said the problem is that people think trying to find something genetically special about Hitler was worthwhile AT ALL. *Genetically* speaking he was just some guy. Why do they want to find magic blood. Why magic nazi blood. Fascism is not a magic mystery of History, it's happening
