One of the places we probably agree the most :) (In addition to midwest patriotism) however, I feel like it's anti-strike --more generally anti workers collective action, or diminishing of it-- in even more direct ways. And I think some of that is structural to the statute before bad court decisions

It's actually paradoxical , because it seems like they are going more maximalist as their public support is eroding... the other way to read that, i guess, is that they are being the same level of maximalist while the realistic basis of enforcing that craters around them

There's a very funny NYT news article from 1875 about a business greenback convention in Detroit, the entire point of which is to strongly suggest to its readers that everyone in attendance was actually a (mere) blue-collar worker. Not true, but unintentionally telling in multiple ways.

I feel like people recognize this more easily with regions (west v. northeast) but it goes beyond that.

One thing that is strange about our society is that while life is cheap, death is a taboo subject. Both should be the other way around! (And even suggests that the causal relationship may be the opposite of conventional opinion)
