The Pillsbury smokestack comes down at 10 a.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 18). Moving Pillsbury Forward has a viewing site near 15th & Phillips.

Demolition of Springfield's Pillsbury plant starts this week. Moving Pillsbury Forward will provide a viewing area.

The first map of Springfield, Illinois, was printed in 1856. The city’s population was around 7,000, and a local politician named Abraham Lincoln was on his way to national prominence. SangamonLink.org, the digital encyclopedia of Sangamon County history, makes its Bluesky debut with this post.
