1/2 2 yrs ago I moved to a small town in MI. I didn't know my neighbors' politics until the election. That's when I found out that all the Dems were people I was already friendly with from walking around and chatting in the neighborhood.

If you care about religious freedom even a little bit, you should be challenging policies that allow the feds to raid houses of worship.
"Quaker groups file suit over the end of policy restricting ICE arrests in houses of worship: The suit appears to be the first from a faith-based organization challenging the change in court."

I appreciated this psychoanalytical framework for overcoming the political divide in the US because it acknowledges that both parties have a role to play. There must be a mutual interest in repair. #braverangels #buildingbridges
Opinion | As a Couples Therapist, I See the Same Destructive Patterns in Our Political Discourse
We’re in a national moment of great fear and suspicion. But the principles of psychoanalysis that can help feuding couples can also help us reconcile our differences.

Hegseth says he doesn't have a drinking problem but will quit drinking if confirmed. As a sober person, let me remind you that people *without* drinking probs rarely end up having to make that kind of promise and people *with* drinking probs often don't admit it until they try to quit.

The partyism on both sides is becoming increasingly hard to take. I appreciated The Ethicist's take on what to do with Trumpers in the family.

Put on #babyreindeer to watch something seasonal and ohmygod. Incredible story, not Christmassy. Content warnings are there for a reason.

I'm a loyal NYT subscriber but skip the front sections in favor of art and lifestyle pieces. All year, their news coverage felt like reading about two sides rooting for their favorite team. I never wanted to hear about the polls or who likes who and why. Talk to me about the issues! With substance!

Like many anxious folks, I'm calmest in a crisis and I'm intentionally avoiding sources that might stoke my deepest fears. With that caveat, I found this op-ed insightful and poignant. "None of us know the direction or velocity of our vulnerability."
Opinion | Trump’s Victory Feels Like a Diagnosis
With Trump’s return, we are all about to find out how vulnerable we really are.

Called my US rep today and was fully unprepared for someone to actually pick up the phone and talk to me. The nerve! Remind me to call after hours next time. #activistswithanxiety #noonhr9495 #sladems
