ADA accommodations. She is now an accountant with a major firm and talks to clients and colleagues on the phone. Most of them don’t realize she’s deaf. Having CIs isn’t the best choice for every deaf person but for her, it has been. For the life of me, I do not understand why anyone would deny 5/6

Thank goodness she still had insurance coverage through my husband’s employer due to the ACA and thank goodness my mom helped us pay the deductible, because I had gone through cancer the year before, and we were tapped out. Finally, kid got 2nd CI and was able to go to college with 4/6

Kid got CI. Then Republican Sonny Perdue was elected governor. Kid’s Medicaid ended. By the time kid was 19, she was deaf in her other ear and audiologist, ENT, and physician recommended CI for that ear as well. We fought with insurance company for over a year for coverage. 3/6

By age 8, child was deaf in left ear. Audiologist, ENT, and pediatrician recommended a cochlear implant. Btw, child learned to read at 4 at the same time she was learning to speak properly with intensive speech therapy. Bright, driven kid. Insurance through employer denied CI. Medicaid approved. 2/6

And there’s no craft table. Bring your own meals. Though honestly their raft table sucks—cold hamberders and cofeve.
